How the Narrator works
Markbound uses an AI model to write your Narrator's prose — and that's all it does. Below is exactly what the AI touches, what it never gets to decide, and what leaves your device. Plain language, no fine print.
The one promise
The AI never decides what happens in your saga. It only describes what your dice, your oracles and your choices already decided.
The Narrator's job
Think of the AI as a writer sitting beside you, not a referee. It turns the table's results into story — it doesn't get a vote on them.
What the Narrator does
What the Narrator never does
Your data
Each time you ask for a Narrator turn, we send the model just enough to write the next scene well. Nothing about your account goes with it.
What you can count on
Your characters, sagas and journals are never used to train any model — ours or anyone else's. We don't sell your content. Ever.
Narrator output is a story. It can be wrong, contradictory or odd. Treat it as a creative collaborator, never as factual advice.
Dice, oracles, your sheet, the journal and PDF export all work with no AI in the loop. You call the Narrator only when you want to.
Under the hood
Narrator and summarizer turns are currently routed to the Kimi K3 model, accessed directly through Moonshot AI's API. Lovable Cloud still supports parts of the app infrastructure, but it is not the current production narrator gateway.
Prompts run under the provider's API terms. Providers may briefly retain prompts for abuse monitoring. Markbound does not train on your sagas, sell your content, or use your journal text outside the narration features. If we add a standing fallback model from another provider, it'll be named right here.
EU AI Act — Article 50
The EU AI Act's transparency obligations apply from 2 August 2026. Markbound is a creative-writing tool, not a high-risk system, but the disclosure duties are simple and we meet them plainly:
A real person reads this inbox. Ask us anything about how the Narrator handles your saga.
